Youth for Christ Winnipeg is looking for a vibrant team of 2-3 individuals to serve as the Skills/Activities Assistants at Camp Cedarwood. The Skills/Activities Assistants will reside at the Camp, located at Pinawa Bay - Lac du Bonnet, Manitoba. Camp Cedarwood is a ministry of YFC Winnipeg that provides youth with a camp experience that is rooted in the Gospel with a focus on excellence, while allowing them to experience new and exciting opportunities through our programs and activities. 

A successful candidate for this position will recognize first and foremost that they will play a significant and vital role in the success of Camp Cedarwood; what you will do here will have an important impact on the young people and guests who attend and enjoy Camp Cedarwood’s beautiful facility and setting. If you are passionate about helping others, and want to use your experience, skills, and knowledge to support the ministry of YFC in changing the lives of youth, then this may be the position for you. 

Responsibilities
  • Assist in planning, organizing and implementing age appropriate activities.
  • Ensure all program equipment is ready and accessible for each scheduled activity. 
  • Serve as a resource person for individual skills as required (i.e. belaying, mountain biking, etc.).
  • Ensure correct techniques, safety practices, facility safety, and personal safety according to age, ability, and skill levels.
  • Assist in ensuring proper orientation happens for groups using equipment that requires instructions (i.e. archery, cross-country skiing, climbing, etc.).
  • Supervise youth and guests during activities. 

Requirements
  • Maintain a close, intimate relationship with God as a devoted follower of Jesus Christ. 
  • Be an active participant in the life of a local church.
  • Affirm and support our organization’s Community Covenant and Statement of Faith, and be committed to YFC’s mission.
  • Able to live and work in a camp environment during part of the year while being flexible and patient in nature. 
  • Embrace YFC’s core values with a strong heart for evangelism.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain active certifications and training in any of these designated areas: Lifeguard, CPR/First Aid, High Ropes, Archery and Boating.
  • Able to communicate and enforce policies and procedures to program participants and guests.
  • Able to react quickly and properly in emergency situations.
  • Able to work well in a team as well as on your own.
